ONSITE DAYCARE - YES OR NO?
We are still hearing reports that attendees are interested in onsite daycare. The only way it can be offered is if people sign up for it, and the company needs to schedule their staff. KiddieKorp extended their deadline very late for us, but as of Friday, 9/25/09, no children were signed up so it was again canceled.
We are hearing now that some attendees do want daycare. If you are interested in daycare, please select the Late Request For Onsite Daycare. You don't have to pay right now. If 12 people sign up for daycare, we'll ask KiddieKorp if they can help us out and schedule onsite daycare this late. Don't pay at this time, and if we go forward with daycare, you can pay KiddieKorp directly.
Onsite Daycare Program Deadline Extended
KiddieKorp has graciously agreed to extend the deadline for onsite daycare registration.
This will be a fun program for kids ages 6 month to 12 years old. Please register as soon as possible if you need daycare. We need 12 children registered by 9/25/09 to offer the daycare program.
"It Takes A Village" Conference announces Keynote Speaker Composer Film-Maker Chris Brickler
Chris Brickler, director of the Emmy-nominated documentary on love and relationships, "How Will We Love?", will be in San Diego for one appearance only, to speak to parents and educators at the exciting new conference, "It Takes A Village".
"How Will We Love?" is a moving, artistic, feature-length documentary about love and relationships, featuring top experts in the field-from filmmaker and composer Chris Brickler. The film is about real stories of love and loss, including Brickler's grandparents who had recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Chris interviewed hundreds of people, including top relationship experts like Harville Hendrix Ph.D, Helen LaKelly Hunt, M.A., M.I.A, Dr. Helen Fisher, Dr. Gary Chapman, Pastor Ed Young and Rabbi Steve Z. Leder.
Conference Director, Heather Lampron, invited Chris to speak at the conference after viewing his moving documentary. "Chris is a young artist, exploring what it means to be human, to love, to create. He shines a light on the questions and fears, hopes and dreams of young people today. As parents and educators, we can learn from these young seekers. Our 2008 conference featured another exciting young speaker, Max Simon. We will continue to bring fresh, new, and thought-provoking speakers to our annual conference. This is a very exciting event for San Diego, and "It Takes A Village" is greatly honored to have Chris Brickler speak at our 2009 conference."
The conference theme is "Creating the Family of Our Dreams", and Chris is eager to share with attendees on this topic. Brickler notes, "The greatest gift I got from my grandparents was them showing me how they share their love for each other. I created this project to encourage people to have honest conversations that lead to better relationships. The content has already inspired thousands of people."
Chris Brickler will present a multimedia keynote talk with music and excerpts from the film to an intimate group of 300 at 3:30 PM at the University of San Diego's Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. Preregistration required.

About ITAV: The ITAV Conference is the vision of parent educators Heather Lampron, Joe O'Quinn and Susie Walton who united together to create this annual educational program in support of San Diego's parents and teachers. We recognized a need for a forum that provides support and education, as well as providing a space to gather together in community. Upon recognizing this need, we created the It Takes A Village Conference to bring together accomplished instructors, relevant life, school, and parenting topics, and a truly unique learning environment. This Conference will help parents and educators by providing tools, resources, and guidance for their journey through the various stages of parenting and teaching children of all ages.
